Kids Have Subtle Ways of Getting What They Want (Sometimes)

nice try. after four kids, shit like this just make your friendly neighborhood jman laff

“My oldest son, Jethro, has been saving his money for the new iPod touch. Which is really impressive, considering that the iPod touches are upwards of $300. That’s weeks of allowances and a boatload of chores for him. But he’s slowly managed to put the money together.

As he’s gotten closer to the total, though, Jethro’s been trying to finagle his way to getting it sooner. Asking to do even more chores, selling old games/game systems he doesn’t use anymore, and selling some of his “better” clothes to our local secondhand store.”

Ahhhh…kids.  Ya gotta love ’em.  They certainly have a way about them, don’t they?  Especially my boy, Jethro.  He really has his own, special way to get what he wants.  And you can read all about it in the article, Kids Have Subtle Ways of Getting What They Want (Sometimes), over at

  1. AHHHH! I’m scared…that picture scares me! LOL but I definitely agree with you chores/allowance is the best way to teach kids about responsibility and saving up…..a lot of kids just get things whenever they cry for it……lol

    1. isn’t that a great picture? someone painted that! and a bunch others. I should really find out who did them, so I can give them proper credit…

  2. *argh* Parent Society won’t let me sign in to comment for some reason. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong, so I’m not disparaging them. But I’m too frustrated & impatient to continue messing around over there. I shall, therefore, come back here to comment. I like YOU better anyway, lolz!!!

My sister & I used to clean the whole house when we wanted to get our way. It wasn’t subtle at all. And we were way less polite & pointed about it than your little Jett-man. You should be proud. At least he is ATTEMPTING to get in good graces & is ATTEMPTING to pretend he isn’t purchasing your favor with generous gifts of service. We were straight up BAD. “Hey, Ma! Since we cleaned the whole house, will you take us to the store today? Pleeeeeeeeeeeease???” Good job with your Jett-man, Jman! 🙂

    1. lol! always appreciate you stopping by and commenting!
